Distribution Plan - Mid-Tier Films

Recent digital distribution (VOD, Streaming, Download, DVD/Blu Ray) models have most benefited  mid-tier films. For example, The Escape Room was a mid-tier film that benefited highly from its theater release, but as well as its digital release. The movie made roughly $60 in its theatrical release. It was released in theaters on January 4, 2019 and will be released on DVD in April of 2019. With a budget of $9 million it's easy to see tat mid-tier films benefit from trends of the time, so teenagers feel compelled to watch their movie. Movies such as Truth or Dare and Would You Rather are good examples of simple ideas taken to the next level for an easy "cash grab". Truth or Dare made over $90 million worldwide, but roughly only $1 million from digital sales. This shows that mid-tier films still mostly benefit from theatrical releases, and are not going anywhere anytime soon. Like I said before, this shows how crucial, and to an extent, how necessary it is to release in theaters; so Shane and I practically have no choice but to release it in theaters. How we would determine which theaters to release too, would be determined through our online marketing plan. So, where ever the most support comes from, whether Sarasota, Florida or San Francisco, California, we would be able to narrow our release. This means we would save money, while also releasing it to the people who want to see our film the most.
